Cathrine Liyanage Luncheon Meeting,13th Aug0-

Cathrine has lived in Sri Lanka and has wide experince about Sri Lankan culture and behavior. She has taken to help the Disability to contain by itself, and presented a wonderful aspect of being a disabled or diffently able person. Her facet of approch to the whole issue is different from what you and I would normally see.

If the community can help the disabled people you can make them feel less disabled.

Visit to Al Falah School in Kochikade - a Proposed water Suppy and Sanitation Project

Rtn's Shezard Careem, together with Rtn Mohammed Abidally and Rtn Pat Fernando of the Rotary Club of Wattala visited the Al Falah School in Kochikade on 28th July together with a building contractor for an onsite study of the water supply need.

What we found was really apalling, a school with 1400 students, both boys and girls with absolutely terrible sanitation facilities. The present water tank is in vey bad shape and like to collapse. The toilets are all broken, some even dont have a roof above, and very dirty and poor situation.

We discussed with the school principal and other senoir teachers present and the contactor will make a 3 stage proposal.
1. to build a new water tank with a some toilets below for the girls along with a septic tank.

2. Upgrade the boys toilet area

3. Build a small general washing area for the kids to wash hands/ lunch plates etc.
