Planting Trees

Dear Presidents- I am delighted to inform you all that we have signed what I believe is a rock solid MOU with Hayley’s to grow 150,000 trees in a phased program that will lead to 1,000,000 trees over the next 5 years.
This was a cherished dream of PDG Gowri to increase the forest cover in Sri Lanka. She launched this program in 2014. She faced some brick bats on the way but Gowri being Gowri was undeterred and kept on moving forward to make this very complex undertaking a reality. She was years ahead of time as it’s only now our country’s executive has declared that he wants to extend our forest cover to 32%. We Rotarians  are first off the block My congratulates to the team Dion the Chairman, Rohantha, PDG’s Suri and Krish stood by this vision and got us to where we are today.

Obituary : Mr. Niranjan (son of Rtn Sri Nagendra

It is with deep regret that we wish to inform you that Mr. Niranjan (son of Rtn Sri Nagendra and brother of Rtn Dinal Peiris) has passed away.

The remains will lie at 106/1, Rosmead Place, Colombo 7 from 10.00 am today (Thursday 9th August 2018). Cortege will leave residence at 4.30 pm today for cremation at Borella General Cemetery (Hindu Section) at 4.45 pm.
